Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy conducted a visit to meet with Ukrainian forces in the eastern front on the start of the week. Zelenskyy announced that he met with fighters at the military base of the first unit of the National Guard of Ukraine Azov, which is conducting a defensive operation in the Dobropillya zone, an urban center approximately 20km from the city.

Critical Circumstances in the Region

Geospatial data from a national effort showed that invading troops had pushed further into Pokrovsk and nearby locations, though a large portion remained beyond firm control by any party. The situation remains critical, with updates indicating that invading units were fortifying positions and building up positions in some districts.

Zelenskyy urged the US to continue considering to providing Ukraine with long-range weapons. Speaking at an EU meeting from the Pokrovsk area, the Ukrainian president also called for more global measures on the federation – including on the energy and atomic industries – and said he wanted Ukraine to join the EU prior to the next decade.
