The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
